Meeting with DG SANTE Director-General on Vaccination

On 6 January, the PGEU met with the European Commission’s (DG SANTE) Director-General Sandra Gallina to dis-cuss the COVID-19 vaccination communication strategy and a European COVID-19 vaccination certificate. PGEU was invited together with the other co-chairs of the European Coalition for Vaccination, namely the Standing Committee of European doctors and the European Nurses Federation.

EU4Health 2021-2027: a vision for a healthier European Union

On 22 January, PGEU attended a webinar on the EU4Health Programme 2021-2027 hosted by the European Commission (DG SANTE). The webinar explained the programme’s objectives, highlighted possible actions and funding opportunities. Participants were also able to provide input on health issues in the EU and how the EU can address them.

The European Commission indicated that the EU health program’s expenditure in 2021 will amount to €327 million and stressed that while it was a pandemic that put health at the forefront of the EU agenda, the health program isn’t just a response to COVID-19.
